Julie Duerichen has performed recitals in Germany, the United States, and Canada. She holds a Master of Music Degree in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Calgary, both graduating with honours. In 2005, she studied in Hanover and Cologne, Germany, and attended the International Bach Academy in Stuttgart.Julie's solo oratorio work includes Messiah with both the Abbotsford Symphony and the Handel Music Society, Vivaldi's Gloria with the Handel Music Society and the Anne Arundel College Choir, the Bach Magnificat with the Douglas College Chorale, and the Brahm's German Requiem with the Pacific Singers of Vancouver. She also sang in Opera Appassionata's Oratorio for AIDS in 2005. Julie has sung regularly with Vancouver's Opera Pro Cantanti performing Lucia from Lucia di Lammermoor, and appearing in 8 performances of Rigoletto as Gilda. She has also sung for Calgary Opera, Annapolis Opera, Washington Opera, Wolftrap Opera, the Maryland Opera Studio, and Opera Appassionata in roles ranging from Angelica in Suor Angelica and Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito, to Cis in Albert Herring and Masha in The Music Shop. A scholarship recipient of Calgary Opera, Julie was also a finalist in the Marie E. Crump Vocal Arts Competition (2002), a winner of the Francis Poulenc Prize in 2008, and is a 2008 laureate of Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyrique programme in Montreal. Julie has studied with such international artists as Carol Richardson, Leon Major, Delores Ziegler, Dominic Cossa, and Donald Bell. TV performances include SHAW TV's Urban Rush (Vancouver), and an internationally televised concert in Washington DC with keynote speaker, Senator Orrin Hatch.
