Soprano Maryann Mootos will appear with Riverside Opera under the direction of Maestro Alan Aurelia in an evening of arias of duets in September 2008. She will take on the role of Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus with Opera New York in the fall of 2008 under the direction of Judith Fredricks in New York City. She will also be singing with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra in November 2008 under the direction of Maestro Jeffrey Rink in "A Night at the Opera".In 2007, she performed the role of Nedda in Chorus Pro Musica’s concert production of I Pagliacci in Boston conducted by Maestro Rink. Ms. Mootos also appeared in the role of Mimi in La Bohème with Miami Lyric Opera and again as Nedda with Chelsea Opera in New York. Other roles include Birdie in Mark Blitzstein’s Regina with the Boston Opera Project as well as Micaela in Carmen with Amato Opera. Ms. Mootos was the recipient of the Marquis Award in the Emerging Professional Division of the 2006 Classical Singer AudComps Competition. In 2005, she studied and performed abroad in Spoleto, Italy with the Spoleto Arts Symposia. She has appeared as a soloist with the Newton Community Chorus in Massachusetts as Gabriel (Haydn’s Creation) and has also performed as a soloist at Philadelphia’s Academy of Music with the Temple University Orchestra and Chorus, as well as the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Mootos received a Bachelor’s degree in Voice from the Eastman School of Music, and her Master’s degree in Opera Performance from Temple University where she attended on a full scholarship. |
