Naomi Katz Cohen
Soprano

recently sang The Queen of the Night in "The Magic Flute" in Naples and Salerno, Italy, in the Amalfi Coast Music festival, as well as with the New York Metro Vocal Arts Ensemble. She sang the roles of Belle Fortune and Rachel Stitcher in the world premiere of the opera "A.F.R.A.I.D., as Reported by Fanny Fern," in the New York City Fringe Festival, written and directed by Susan Stoderl, and sang the roles again at the Brooklyn Lyceum Theater, March-May, 2006. Other performances included The Vivaldi Gloria, and Zerbinetta in "Ariadne auf Naxos." Previous roles inlcude The Dew Fairy in “Hansel and Gretel,” Oscar in “Un Ballo in Maschera,” Musetta in “La Boheme” and The Queen of the Night in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute." Ms. Cohen has sung at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, and is featured as a soprano soloist for the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, CT for the High Holiday season. During 2003-2004, she sang two recitals in New York and Connecticut. She completed the Dicapo Opera Advanced Opera Seminar in July 2003, singing scenes as Despina in “Cosi Fan Tutte,” and Blöndschen in “Abduction From the Seraglio." Her solo concert work includes the Vivaldi “Gloria,” the Schubert “Mass in G,” and the Brahms “Liebeslieder Waltzes,” with the Glass Menagerie Choir. She participated in the Auditions Project under the direction of Susan Ormont in the fall of 2002. Her participation in masterclasses includes Gayletha Nichols, Ken Benson, John Such and Diana Soviero. Other performing credits include the New York premiere of “Michael Row the Boat Ashore,” arranged by Marco Katz, for brass quintet and vocalist, which was performed at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. She was also the soprano soloist for the New York City Premier of “We Are Dreamers,” a piece for Israel’s Fiftieth Birthday at Merkin Hall, by Meira Warshauer.
