A strong proponent of zarzuela, Ms. Herrera has performed roles in this genre including, Reina, Elena, Marola, Luisa Fernanda, Carolina and Marquesita with Teatro Nuevo Mexico in New Mexico under the baton of Pablo Zinger and the direction of Salomé Martínez-Lutz. Ms. Herrera's voice is featured in the soundtrack of the Mexican Short Film "Under the Rubble" nominated for best short film at the Tribeca Film Festival'06 in NYC and received a recognition for Best Original Music nominated at the Pantalla de Cristal Festival'06 in México. Virginia Herrera currently serves as the Head of the Vocal Department at the Harbor Conservatory for Performing Arts in NYC., and teaches privately at the CRILLERA VOCAL STUDIOS in the Bronx. |
